What is an attendance system?
An attendance system records when an employee arrives and leaves, compares that with their shift, and turns it into numbers: minutes late, overtime hours, and whether they left early. Systems differ mainly in what they do with those numbers afterwards.
With separate systems, the numbers end up in a monthly report that someone copies by hand into the payroll file. In Barez they go into payroll directly. Overtime hours become an allowance at the statutory rate, late minutes go through the penalty schedule, and absence appears on the month's sheet.
How people check in also depends on the work. Office staff use a device by the door, branch staff use their phone inside the branch radius, and site staff check in from any of several approved locations. If a system supports only one method, part of your team can't use it.

Three independent check-in methods
Geo-location across several approved sites, face verification, or fingerprint devices. Choose the method that suits each group in your team.
Fixed and flexible shifts
A fixed shift has set hours. A flexible shift has a weekly hour target, optionally within a time window or with a daily minimum. The system calculates each by its own rules.
Grace period and excuses
You set how many grace minutes pass before lateness counts. Employees can also raise an excuse request for a specific day, which goes through approval.
Automatic calculation
Lateness, early leave, overtime and absence are calculated as soon as the day closes. You don't need a separate spreadsheet.
Protected punch correction
The employee requests a punch fix. Once it is approved, the day and its violations are recalculated from scratch. The record is never edited silently.
Feeds payroll directly
The month's results arrive in payroll ready to use: overtime allowance, lateness deductions and the effect of absence.

How do field employees check in away from the office?
From their phone, using geo-location. You define one or more sites with a radius for each, and check-in is accepted only inside that radius. You can also require face verification at the same time.
Does it stop buddy-punching?
Yes. Face verification ties each punch to the right person. Geo-location blocks check-in from outside the work radius. Fingerprint devices record the punch under the person whose fingerprint it is.
What is the difference between a fixed and a flexible shift?
A fixed shift has set start and end times, and lateness is measured against them. A flexible shift sets a weekly hour target, optionally limited to a time window or a daily minimum. It is measured on total hours, not on arrival time.
What if an employee forgets to punch out?
They raise a punch-fix request with the correct time, and it goes through approval. Once it is approved, the system recalculates the whole day and its violations, so the mistake doesn't carry into payroll.
Does attendance data reach payroll automatically?
Yes. Overtime allowance, lateness deductions and the effect of absence go into the month's payroll automatically. There is nothing to export or transfer by hand.
Can I exempt a day or an employee from the calculation?
Yes. You can use an approved excuse for a specific day, a grace period you set for everyone, or shift settings for each group.
